Designed with the student in mind, we encourage young leaders to commit themselves to excellence, which SLU defines as the ability to rise above self, circumstances, obstacles, change and the crowd. Patterned after leading Fortune 500 corporate leadership seminars, each student is exposed to comprehensive programs focusing on leadership skills such as time and life management, goal setting, dealing with conflict and difficult people, and developing a Christian worldview. Combining in-depth classroom lectures with accelerated learning, interactive workshops and in-the-field edutainment experiences, SLU spans the globe with four comprehensive programs. From the Smithsonian to the British Museum, the Louvre to the Vatican, SLU displays the dynamic role that faith has played in shaping the arts and the culture. All four of our programs are based on the belief that the greatest catalyst for personal development occurs through the people you meet; the places you go; and the books you read.
History of SLU
Under the leadership, direction, and vision of founder and president Dr. Jay Strack, Student Leadership University was established in its inaugural year of 1994 with just a few students in an intensive cell group environment. Since that time, the scope of Student Leadership University has expanded to equip and empower more than 30,000 students to rise to the call of leadership. The primary commitment and dedication of Dr. Strack throughout the years has remained the development of unswerving leaders who are inspired to make a difference in their world.
Student Leadership University is based in Orlando, Florida, the innovation capital of the world, where our students receive their initial training as leaders. This intensive leadership instruction is successively continued in the stimulating venues of San Antonio, Texas; San Diego, California; Washington, D.C.; London, England; Paris, France; Normandy, France; and Israel; where our students receive unparalleled training in relevant issues of global leadership as well as first-rate instruction in character and faith development.
Now in its 14th year of operation, Student Leadership University is more effective than ever before and continues to be committed to training and equipping leaders who can competently address the issues that are at the forefront of society. Because we believe that the future belongs to those who are prepared, we are doing our very best to prepare ourselves and others today for the challenges of tomorrow.
