Mike is Director of Missions for Student Leadership University. He is very excited to be a part of the SLU Team. Mike’s passion is student missions. “My goal is to help young people take the leadership skills they develop here at SLU and put it in to practice immediately by serving people in one of our unique SLU Mission Experiences.” Mike’s hope is to have hundreds of students serving in missions each summer with SLU. It is his desire to see students catch a vision for the Nations!
Mike has been a Youth Pastor in local church ministry for 27 years. Throughout his ministry, he has used his spiritual gifts to preach and teach students through his mission statement: “We exist to Reach unbelieving and uncommitted students to Grow and deepen them in their faith and to Send them out to impact their world for Jesus Christ.”
Mike’s ability to lead has given him the reputation as one of the top youth pastors in the country. Through those leaderships skill he has mentored many youth pastors who are now serving on church staffs throughout the United States. He has served as President of the Metro Youth Pastors Association and has been a featured speaker with the Song of Solomon conferences, Youth camps, and various student events.
Mike graduated from the University of Arkansas and loves watching his “Hogs” play any sport. He and his wife Kookie live in Spring, Texas and they have four children Thad, Shelby, Hannah and Hayden. |
